LayerZero Labs Reports KelpDAO Theft of 116,500 rsETH

According to LayerZero Labs, a report released on May 20 confirmed that the KelpDAO rsETH cross-chain bridge was attacked, resulting in the theft of approximately 116,500 rsETH (around $292 million). Institutions such as Mandiant and CrowdStrike attributed the attack to the North Korean hacker group TraderTraitor. The attack began on March 6, 2026, with the attackers infiltrating LayerZero developer accounts through social engineering, penetrating the RPC cloud environment, and manipulating data. LayerZero Labs announced adjustments to its security strategy, including rebuilding cloud infrastructure, introducing short-term credentials, and implementing multi-party approval mechanisms.
