[Ministry of Commerce: Anticipating Both Sides to Create Favorable Conditions for Bilateral Agricultural Trade Through Joint Tariff Reductions, Reduction of Non-Tariff Barriers, and Expanded Market Access]
Jin10 News, May 20 – A spokesperson from the Department of American and Oceanian Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce provided an interpretation of the preliminary outcomes of the China-U.S. economic and trade consultations. Following discussions, both sides reached a series of positive consensuses on addressing certain non-tariff barriers and market access issues related to agricultural products. They also agreed in principle to include relevant products in a reciprocal tariff reduction framework arrangement. Additionally, they set a guiding target for expanding bilateral agricultural trade. It is anticipated that both sides will work together to reduce tariffs, minimize non-tariff barriers, and expand market access, thereby creating favorable conditions for bilateral agricultural trade and promoting the recovery and continuous expansion of trade cooperation in the agricultural sector.
