A 70 year old man in Shanghai narrowly escaped being defrauded of 100000 yuan by a Bitcoin investment advisor
Odaily Planet Daily News: A 70 year old man in Chongming, Shanghai, China, recently went to the bank twice in a row to withdraw 100000 yuan in cash transfer after listening to online "investment mentors" promoting high returns on Bitcoin investment. Eventually, he was successfully dissuaded by police and bank cooperation. Police remind that fraudulent investment scams such as "Bitcoin investment" and "retirement finance" targeting the elderly are highly prevalent. Scammers often disguise themselves as "financial experts" on short video platforms, using false profit screenshots, phrases such as "low investment, high return, and guaranteed profit" to induce transfers. If large fund operations are involved, they should be verified with family members first and reported to the police in a timely manner.
