Verus and Ethereum's cross-chain bridge was attacked, resulting in losses exceeding $11 million. This marks the eighth cross-chain bridge security incident since 2026, with total related losses for the year nearing $329 million. Blockchain security firm Blockaid stated that this vulnerability is similar to the 2022 Wormhole and Nomad cross-chain bridge attacks. The issue lies in the bridge verification process failing to properly check whether the source chain transaction parameters match the Ethereum-side payment data. Interestingly, fixing the vulnerability would require only about 10 lines of code. After the attack, some Verus network block-producing nodes voluntarily went offline, causing block production on-chain to temporarily halt. (Protos) https://(wublock123.com)/news/news-61352
