[Tether Applies for Company Name and Logo Trademarks in South Korea]
Odaily Planet Daily reports that according to South Korea's patent information search service KIPRIS, Tether has recently submitted applications in South Korea for a total of seven trademarks, including the 'tether' logo and the gold-backed stablecoin 'tether gold.' The virtual asset industry speculates that this move by Tether may be a preparatory step to establish a subsidiary in South Korea and enter the Korean market. The upcoming Digital Asset Basic Act is expected to require foreign stablecoin issuers to set up domestic branches in South Korea to conduct circulation operations. Tether's actions are seen as being ahead of its competitor Circle. Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire visited South Korea in April and stated that South Korea is one of the most dynamic virtual asset markets in the world. (chosun)
