[S&P: Bank of Japan May Raise Interest Rates to 1.5% by 2027] Odaily Planet Daily News – S&P Global Market Intelligence economist Harumi Taguchi stated that the Bank of Japan might raise its policy rate from the current 0.75% to 1.0% in July, followed by additional hikes in December and 2027, bringing the policy rate to 1.5%. Taguchi noted that if rising oil prices and a weakening yen exacerbate concerns about the second-round effects of inflation, the Bank of Japan may implement further rate hikes. Taguchi added that, given persistently high oil prices driving up demand for the U.S. dollar, heightened market expectations of Federal Reserve rate hikes, and concerns over Japan's fiscal expansion, the yen is unlikely to recover in the short term.
