[Institution: Japan's Economic Growth Rate May Be 0.5% This Fiscal Year] According to a report by Jinse Finance, on May 19, Nikko Securities economist Yoshimasa Maruyama stated that under the scenario of recent easing in Middle East tensions, Japan's economic growth rate for the fiscal year ending March 2027 could average 0.5%. He noted: 'With the easing of supply constraints, WTI crude oil prices are expected to eventually decline, with the average price for the 2026 fiscal year likely stabilizing around $82 per barrel.' He added: 'However, if Middle East conflicts persist, an upward trend in the average oil price for the 2026 fiscal year may become inevitable.' Preliminary data released on Tuesday showed a quarter-on-quarter economic growth of 0.5% in the first quarter.
