According to a report by Hong Kong 01, former Wan Chai Police Station Chief Inspector Ho Siu-tung officially pleaded guilty on May 18 to four charges, including bribery and misconduct in public office. Case details reveal that Ho allegedly accepted over HK$1.14 million (approximately US$146,000) in cash and gifts from businessman Qu Haipeng. In return, Ho used his authority multiple times to leak internal police information to the businessman and provided preferential treatment during investigations. It’s reported that the businessman had filed a report in 2021 claiming he was defrauded of cryptocurrency worth US$17 million. This case, along with another involving the same businessman, was handled by the Wan Chai Police District where Ho worked and was illegally interfered with by him. The case has been adjourned to May 26 for sentencing.
