[Meta to Lay Off 10% on Wednesday, While 7,000 Employees Will Be Transferred to AI Departments]
According to Deep Tide TechFlow, on May 19, Reuters reported that Meta Chief Human Resources Officer Janelle Gale sent an internal memo to employees on Monday, detailing the restructuring plan for this week. The company will lay off 10% of its workforce on Wednesday, while transferring 7,000 employees to AI-related departments such as Applied AI Engineering (AAI) and Agent Transformation Accelerator (ATA). Additionally, management layers will be reduced to implement a flatter organizational structure. This round of layoffs and transfers will affect approximately 20% of employees. Furthermore, the company has already closed 6,000 vacant positions. As of the end of March this year, Meta had approximately 78,000 employees. This restructuring aims to fully transition the company to AI-native workflows and develop AI agents capable of autonomously completing human work tasks.
