Gulf nations seek to de-escalate tensions and end the Strait of Hormuz crisis Dania Thafer, Executive Director of the Gulf International Forum, stated that against the backdrop of U.S. and Israeli tensions with Iran, Gulf nations are looking to 'find solutions to the crises they are facing.' However, she noted that, unlike Trump, Gulf nations do not view Iran's nuclear program as their top concern. 'From their perspective, keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and addressing Iran's missile program—which has launched thousands of missiles at Gulf nations—are the core issues at present,' Thafer told Al Jazeera. 'The priorities sought by President Trump differ from those sought by Gulf leaders,' she said. 'But of course, for them, getting involved in an imminent high-intensity conflict... or even transitioning through the current state of low-intensity conflict they are in now, is not in their interest.'
