The U.S. Treasury Department reaches a $275 million settlement to resolve the Adani Group's violations of Iran sanctions
The U.S. Treasury Department announced that it has reached a $275 million settlement with India’s Adani Enterprises over the company’s potential civil liability for 32 apparent violations of Iran sanctions.
In a statement, the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control said Adani Enterprises purchased liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) shipments from a Dubai-based trader, which were claimed to supply Oman and Iraq but were actually sourced from Iran.
The Department of Justice is also close to dropping related criminal fraud charges against Adani, as the company has pledged to invest $10 billion in the U.S. economy.
