[Institution: Japan's Q1 Economy May See Moderate Growth] Reported by Jinse Finance, May 18 – Japan's preliminary Q1 GDP figures will be released on Tuesday. It is expected that Japanese government data will show that, thanks to a recovery in exports to the U.S. and solid domestic consumption, Japan's economy may achieve moderate growth in the first quarter. According to economists surveyed by data provider Quick, real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is projected to grow by 0.4% quarter-on-quarter, equivalent to an annualized growth rate of 1.6%. In comparison, the quarter-on-quarter and annualized growth rates for Q4 2025 were 0.3% and 1.3%, respectively. Mitsubishi UFJ Research and Consulting economist Shunpei Fujita stated: 'Looking ahead, as the negative impacts of rising oil prices and supply constraints caused by escalating tensions in Iran begin to emerge, it is necessary to remain vigilant about the risks of increasing downward pressure on the economy.'
