According to Folha de S.Paulo, data obtained through the Freedom of Information Act shows that Brazil's Federal Police seized approximately $14 million worth of crypto assets related to criminal activities in 2025, marking a more than sixfold increase compared to 2024. These assets were tied to cases involving drug trafficking, cybercrime, environmental crime, and money laundering. During investigations into Pix infrastructure hacks and money laundering organizations, police confiscated Bitcoin and stablecoins. The report also noted that the $14 million represents only a small fraction of Brazil's declared crypto market, with crypto transactions reported to tax authorities last year totaling around $100 billion.
