[Bank of England Deputy Governor Broadbent: Even if rate hikes are necessary, they can wait until late 2026]
Jin10 News, May 14 – Bank of England Deputy Governor Broadbent stated that the Bank of England is currently "in a favorable position to calmly observe economic dynamics." She added, "We don't need to rush into action." She revealed that even if rate hikes ultimately become necessary, the Bank of England could wait until late 2026 to implement them. This is despite the current market consensus expecting the Bank of England to raise rates two to three times this year, with the first hike anticipated this summer. She said, "We have ample time to assess: first, the severity of the shock; second, the trajectory of economic evolution. Certainly, we cannot wait indefinitely; but we are also not compelled to act hastily in June or July."
