[Crypto Journalist: Bipartisan Senator Negotiations Break Down Ahead of CLARITY Act Review]
Crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett disclosed on the X platform that bipartisan senator group negotiations, aimed at securing a more favorable stance from Democrats on at least two unresolved issues in the CLARITY Act, have broken down tonight (Wednesday evening local time). Republican lead negotiator Cynthia Lummis stated that 99% of the bill's content has been agreed upon and expressed hope that bipartisan colleagues would resolve the remaining 1% after the committee passes the bill. Democrats Adam Schiff and Ruben Gallego, among others, demanded compromises on ethics and conflict of interest issues before Thursday's review as a condition for supporting the bill. Other Democrats raised concerns about the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act (BRCA) provisions, which aim to protect non-custodial software developers from prosecution under money transmission laws.
