Microsoft executive: Total investment in OpenAI will exceed $100 billion next month
Odaily Daily reported that on the final day of Musk's lawsuit against OpenAI entering the evidence stage, Microsoft executives revealed in court that as of June 2026, Microsoft's total investment in OpenAI (including investment commitments, infrastructure, and computing hosting costs) will exceed $100 billion. The report stated that this figure is far higher than the previously widely recognized $13 billion cash investment scale in the market, and for the first time disclosed the overall cost of Microsoft's investment in underlying computing power and infrastructure to support OpenAI. Microsoft CTO Kevin Scott also confirmed that during the early stages of building the first supercomputer, both parties deployed tens of thousands of GPUs at once. In addition, after Microsoft and OpenAI finished presenting evidence, the Musk team chose to abandon the rebuttal phase, and the three week evidence collection phase officially ended. The court is expected to enter the closing statement phase on Thursday.
