Felis dia! Aruba is buzzing with energy. The day got off to a great start with a wonderful visit to Arikok National Park. In this vast nature reserve, I learnt about Aruba’s efforts in the areas of sustainability, biodiversity and nature restoration.
During a sports day, I saw young sporting talent in action. A wonderful event that highlights the importance of sport and exercise for young people and how talent development is encouraged here on the island. It also makes young people here aware of the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
I spoke with the Speaker of Parliament and various party leaders about good (financial) governance, the island’s socio-economic development and effective cooperation within the Kingdom.
Finally, I visited Reina Beatrix Airport. Here I saw how hard work is being done to modernise the airport; this is important for tourism and the
economy. Aruba’s role as a regional tourism hub is being further strengthened.
Aruba recently celebrated the island’s special status. Much has been achieved since then. This visit gives me great confidence in the future of this beautiful island.(Rob Jetten)
