Minister of Health and Wellness, Christopher Tufton, said the UHWI review committee found that there is a need for clearer decision-making structures and stronger internal planning at the institution. Minister Tufton also noted that the committee called for stronger financial management practices, including better revenue collection, improved inventory and property management, and tighter accountability systems. Among the major recommendations was the creation of a formal service level agreement between The University of the West Indies and the Ministry of Health and Wellness to clearly define responsibilities and expectations. He pointed out that the Government currently provides approximately 70% of UHWI’s budget, while the remaining funding comes from other sources, including regional contributions.(Andrew Holness)
