[Japan's Major Banks to Begin Using Anthropic's Mythos System as Early as This Month]
Golden Finance reported on May 13 that Japan's Nikkei newspaper stated on Wednesday that Japan's three major banks could gain access to Anthropic's AI model Mythos by the end of May. According to the report, the banking divisions of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, and Mizuho Financial Group likely learned of this development during a meeting held in Japan on Tuesday with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Besant. This will mark the first time Japanese companies are authorized to use Mythos.
Although Mythos is specifically designed for defensive cybersecurity tasks, its capabilities have raised concerns about threats to traditional software security. Anthropic revealed that preview testing uncovered numerous critical vulnerabilities in the system, which affect all mainstream operating systems and web browsers.
On Tuesday, Japan's Finance Minister Katsuki Katayama met with Besant and subsequently announced that Japan would establish a public-private partnership task force this week to address the cybersecurity risks Mythos poses to Japan's financial system. The task force's first meeting is expected to take place on Thursday. (Sina Finance)
