Minister of Health and Wellness, Christopher Tufton, explained that two separate review tracks were established to address concerns raised in the Auditor General’s report on UHWI. He said one track focuses on correcting immediate operational and governance issues involving the board and management systems, while the second examines the long-term structure of the institution and whether broader reforms or restructuring may be needed. Minister Tufton said explained that the review committee was tasked with identifying weaknesses in UHWI’s governance, financial management, procurement practices, administration, and risk management systems, while also recommending changes to improve oversight and reduce future risks. The Minister also commended the committee for its work and thanked its members for their contribution to the review process.(Andrew Holness)
