[Google: Hackers Exploit AI Technology to Develop Zero-Day Vulnerabilities, Bypassing Two-Factor Authentication] According to Decrypt, Google's Threat Analysis Group has confirmed that cybercriminals utilized artificial intelligence models to discover and exploit a zero-day vulnerability found in a popular open-source web management tool, enabling them to bypass two-factor authentication. Google stated that this marks the first time the company has identified AI-assisted zero-day vulnerability development in a real-world environment. Before attackers could prepare for large-scale exploitation, Google collaborated with the affected vendor to patch the vulnerability. Google's report pointed out that the vulnerability is a logical error, where the software trusted a condition that could bypass two-factor authentication. Unlike traditional scanners that search for crashes or faulty code, AI analyzed the software's expected behavior and detected logical inconsistencies, allowing attackers to bypass security checks without compromising encryption.
