[Analyst: If the U.S. Insists on Iran Shipping Out Highly Enriched Uranium or Halting Enrichment Long-Term, a Deal Is Unlikely]
Reported by Jinse Finance, May 11—Senior researcher at the Middle East Strategic Studies Center, Abbas Aslani, stated that Iran's response to the U.S. proposal is 'not simply acceptance or rejection,' but rather an explanation and clarification of Iran's stance regarding the text provided by the U.S. Even though Iran has demonstrated greater flexibility, the nuclear issue remains the most challenging topic between the two sides. Iran has consistently maintained an open attitude toward transparency and inspection requirements from the International Atomic Energy Agency. If the two sides can reach some form of peace agreement in the initial stages, it could create a somewhat positive atmosphere and serve as a measure to build mutual trust. However, if the U.S. continues to insist on its demands, such as requiring Iran to ship highly enriched uranium to the U.S. or halt enrichment activities long-term, then no agreement will be possible.
