Big shoutout to AAVE and DeFi United! Last month’s rsETH hack caused by Kelp has finally been somewhat resolved.
The utilization rate of the AAVE ETH pool has finally dropped below 95%, meaning it’s barely usable again.
So, who patched the hole? I did some digging:
DeFi United:
- AAVE out of pocket: 25,000 ETH
- Consensys + Lubin personally: up to 30,000 ETH
- Stani: 5,000 ETH
- EtherFi: 5,000 ETH
- Lido DAO: 2,500 stETH
- Community donations: 3,000~4,000 ETH
Public chains:
- Arbitrum froze over 30,000 ETH from the hacker
- Mantle: 30,000 ETH loan
Respect to everyone who stepped up when it mattered.
Also, regarding those responsible for the incident:
- Kelp: 2,000 ETH
- LayerZero: 5,000 + 5,000 ETH loan
All in all, from April 18 to May 9, in just half a month, DeFi managed to pull through a major crisis thanks to the support of the entire industry. Truly heartwarming. ❤️
