[Institution: U.S. April Employment Growth May Slow as Temporary Factors Fade] Odaily Planet Daily News – Due to the fading impact of temporary factors such as warmer weather and striking healthcare workers returning to work, U.S. employment growth in April may slow. However, this does not indicate a substantial change in labor market conditions, with the unemployment rate expected to remain stable at 4.3%. Data is also expected to show faster wage growth last month, further reinforcing financial market expectations that the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates unchanged until 2027. A Reuters survey revealed that economists attribute part of the employment data fluctuations to adjustments made this year to the "birth-death model," which estimates job changes resulting from business openings or closures. Some experts noted that the high turnover of businesses has made it challenging for the Bureau of Labor Statistics to estimate job creation associated with new enterprises. Additionally, factors such as weather, strikes, government layoffs, and significant labor shifts caused by the Trump administration's crackdown on illegal immigration have exacerbated volatility. Economists recommend referencing the three-month moving average of employment data for a better understanding of labor market conditions. Citigroup economist Veronica Clark stated that averaging data from recent months still indicates moderate positive employment growth. Considering the significant changes in immigration flows that have led to a sharp decline in average employment growth this year, this alone is not cause for concern. (Jin10)
