Prime Minister Li stated that he does not seek normalization of relations with Israel
On May 6th, according to the Lebanese National News Agency, Prime Minister Salam stated that Lebanon is not seeking "normalization of relations with Israel" but is committed to achieving peace. He pointed out that it is "too early" to discuss a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu now, and any high-level contact with Israel needs to be "fully prepared". Salam also stated that consolidating the ceasefire will become the basis for a new round of negotiations between Lebanon and Israel that may be held in the United States in the future. He said that the "minimum requirement" of the Lebanese side is for Israel to establish a withdrawal schedule, while the Lebanese side will continue to promote a unified weapons control plan.
