Vitalik proposes a new solution called 'Keyed Nonces', which may become a new state extension strategy for Ethereum
According to Foresight News, Vitalik Buterin stated in an article that "Keyed Nonces" not only provide stronger protocol level support for on chain privacy solutions, but may also be an important direction for Ethereum's future state expansion. By creating dedicated storage types for specific use cases, achieve ultimate scale while maintaining protocol decentralization. \Taking nullifiers in privacy transactions as an example: If privacy transactions on the chain are maintained for a long time at 2000 TPS, approximately 500 billion nullifiers will be generated after 8 years. Due to the inability of nullifiers to prune, if they are all placed in the existing universal state, it will put enormous pressure on node storage and decentralization. Dedicated nullifier storage can leverage its highly restricted usage (only for validity checks, and transactions require explicit provision of the nullifier ID) to achieve more decentralized processing solutions, such as sharded storage (nodes only need to hold a small number of shards and maintain connections with honest nodes in each shard) and Bloom Filter optimization (which can significantly reduce verification overhead to about 8 bits per nullifier). \If the builder continues to rely on the existing state, they may need to download tens of TB of full data, and privacy users may not be able to efficiently use mechanisms such as FOCIL. Therefore, most usage scenarios should be migrated to more specialized and lower cost storage types, while preserving the complete dynamic state for highly flexible applications such as DeFi, in order to achieve a better balance between scalability and decentralization.
