The communiqué noted that the cooperation intentions reached between the EU and Japan cover several key areas, including data governance, artificial intelligence, and quantum technology. In terms of data governance, the EU plans to jointly establish a 'Data Strategy Working Group' with Japan to enhance data sharing, promote joint research and innovation. Additionally, the EU welcomed Japan's participation in the EU's flagship scientific program 'Horizon Europe,' considering it a move that will accelerate joint research progress in digital fields such as artificial intelligence. The communiqué also stated that the two sides will launch joint research projects in the field of quantum technology to advance the development of hybrid computing environments and explore the applications of quantum technology in areas such as materials science, carbon dioxide reduction, communication networks, fluid dynamics, and satellite image analysis.
