[U.S. Central Command: Missile Destroyers and Fighter Jets to Support Operations in the Strait of Hormuz] Reported by Jinse Finance, on May 4, the U.S. Central Command announced that starting May 4, the military will support "Operation Freedom" to restore the freedom of navigation for commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. This mission, ordered by the President, aims to assist commercial ships seeking free passage through this critical international trade route. A quarter of the world's maritime oil trade, along with significant amounts of fuel and fertilizer products, is transported through this strait. General Brad Cooper, Commander of U.S. Central Command, stated: "While we maintain a maritime blockade, support for this defensive mission is crucial for regional security and the global economy." Last week, the U.S. State Department announced a new initiative in collaboration with the Department of Defense, aimed at enhancing coordination and information sharing among international partners to support maritime security in the strait. The "Maritime Freedom Initiative" seeks to integrate diplomatic efforts with military coordination, which will be critical during "Operation Freedom." The U.S. military's support for "Operation Freedom" will include missile destroyers, over 100 land-based and sea-based aircraft, multi-domain unmanned platforms, and 15,000 personnel. (Jin10)
