[Zcash Foundation: Released Zebra 4.4.0 Version, Fixes Multiple Consensus-Level Security Vulnerabilities and Urges Immediate Node Upgrade]
Odaily Planet Daily News – The Zcash Foundation officially announced the release of Zebra 4.4.0. This update addresses multiple critical consensus-level security vulnerabilities and strongly recommends all node operators to upgrade immediately. The fixes include a denial-of-service vulnerability that could permanently halt new block discovery, a consensus divergence caused by errors in block signature operations (sigops) counting, abnormal handling of transparent transaction signature hashes, and risks of memory allocation amplification attacks.
The Zcash Foundation stated that some of these vulnerabilities could lead Zebra nodes to accept blocks rejected by zcashd, potentially causing chain forks. If not updated promptly, nodes may face risks such as interruptions in block discovery, consensus divergence, and amplified resource consumption. Additionally, there are currently no alternative mitigation solutions available.
