"For example, imagine you open a small shop and hang up a QR code inside. A customer scans it, and their AI assistant starts chatting with your AI assistant—asking about materials, whether customization is possible, and when the order can be shipped. Once everything is agreed upon, payment is held in escrow, and funds are released only after you ship the goods. You might not even need to be physically present in the shop... Scenarios like this will become super common in the future. AI can already handle a lot of tasks, but when it comes to the payment step, it still needs you to scan a code or enter a password—slowing down the whole process. So, OKX dropped another bombshell yesterday! They launched something called the Agent Payments Protocol (APP), which, in plain language, is an "AI agent automatic payment protocol." APP can cover all kinds of payment models for different businesses, including: one-time payments, escrow payments, pay-as-you-go, capped usage-based billing, and more—all under one unified protocol. Previously, solutions like x402 were essentially just back-and-forth web interfaces. But with the APP protocol, you can use it anywhere—on Telegram, Discord, email, or even print it as a QR code and stick it on a wall. It completely decouples payments from HTTP. As OKX’s official Twitter pointed out, email and websites became foundational infrastructure because they’re built on open protocols. Following the same philosophy, APP is also an open protocol that can be built on and is compatible with almost all public blockchains. Whether APP ends up becoming *the* standard or not, OKX’s move this time is seriously impressive! Because in the battle for future industry standards, the first one to bring everyone to the table will naturally have more influence than the rest." #OKX #AgentPaymentsProtocol #Crypto #AI
