[Hong Kong Central Moneymarkets Unit Plans to Establish a Digital Asset Platform] The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has released documents for the Legislative Council Panel on Financial Affairs briefing, revealing plans to establish a digital asset platform under the Hong Kong Central Moneymarkets Unit (CMU). According to reports, the CMU, operated by the HKMA, is planning to launch the platform by 2026 to support the issuance and settlement of digital bonds, gradually expanding to other digital assets and connecting with other tokenization platforms in the region. Additionally, the CMU plans to introduce a new platform in 2027 to enhance system processing capabilities and provide more comprehensive collateral management and liquidity management functions.
