[U.S. Senate Unanimously Passes Resolution to Ban Senators from Participating in Prediction Market Trading] Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on May 1, according to The Block, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed S. Res. 708 on Thursday, effective immediately, prohibiting senators from trading in prediction markets. The resolution, proposed by Senator Bernie Moreno, aims to prevent insider trading. Previously, a Polymarket account allegedly used insider information to bet on Venezuelan President Maduro stepping down, profiting $400,000. Active-duty soldier Gannon Ken Van Dyke has been arrested in connection with the case and currently denies the charges. Kalshi founder Tarek Mansour and Polymarket have both publicly expressed support for the resolution, with the latter stating that its platform rules already prohibit such behavior and pledging to actively cooperate in advancing the legislative process.
