WuShuo has learned that the U.S. Department of Justice announced two American cybersecurity professionals, Ryan Goldberg and Kevin Martin, have been sentenced to 4 years in prison for their involvement in 2023 attacks using the ALPHV BlackCat ransomware. The two operated under a 'Ransomware-as-a-Service' model, paying approximately 20% of their earnings to the operators. In one instance, they extorted around $1.2 million in Bitcoin and engaged in money laundering. The group has reportedly targeted over 1,000 victims worldwide.
