Sources reveal that in the case of Hu Henghua, Lin Xiucheng's son-in-law, Lin Kechuang, transferred 30.8 million USDT (approximately 210 million RMB, including a 10 million RMB currency exchange fee) to Hu Henghua. Lin Kechuang reportedly owns at least seven cold wallets. After authorities seized Chongqing Mayor Hu Henghua's cold wallet, they followed the trail to track six other addresses linked to Lin Kechuang. This led to the discovery of a second bribery chain: 15.5 million USDT transferred during the same period to Luo Lin, a Chongqing Municipal Party Committee member and Party Secretary of Liangjiang New Area. Storing cold wallets with lawyers not only cuts direct ties but also adds a layer of legal protection—the attorney-client privilege, which can resist search warrants in multiple jurisdictions. However, for the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), this barrier is relatively weak. The immutability of blockchain, in this case, has ironically become a powerful tool for asset recovery.
