Eurostat: Eurozone Inflation Rate Expected to Reach 3% in April 2026

On April 30 local time, preliminary estimates released by Eurostat showed that the annual inflation rate in the Eurozone for April 2026 is expected to be 3.0%, higher than March's 2.6%, indicating a rebound in inflation levels. Among the main components, energy prices have become the primary driver of rising inflation, with a year-on-year increase in April projected to reach 10.9%, significantly higher than March's 5.1%.
Additionally, preliminary data indicates that the Eurozone and EU gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 0.1% quarter-on-quarter in the first quarter of 2026, slowing from the 0.2% growth in the fourth quarter of 2025. On a year-on-year basis, the Eurozone economy grew by 0.8%, while the EU overall grew by 1.0%, both lower than the previous quarter's year-on-year growth rates of 1.3% for the Eurozone and 1.4% for the EU.
From a year-on-year perspective, most EU member states maintained economic growth, with 14 countries achieving positive growth and 1 country experiencing negative growth.
