[South Korean Court Halts Financial Authority's 6-Month Partial Business Suspension Penalty on Bithumb]
Foresight News reports, citing Yonhap News Agency, that the Seoul Administrative Court's Administrative Division 2 has today accepted Bithumb's application for suspension of execution, temporarily halting the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU)'s previously issued 6-month 'partial business suspension' penalty until the final verdict is announced.
In March of this year, the FIU imposed a 6-month partial business suspension (external virtual asset transfer services for new customers) and a fine of 36.8 billion Korean won on Bithumb, citing violations of the Specific Financial Information Act (Special Act) regulations. The FIU claimed the violations involved 6.65 million illegal transactions, including dealings with unregistered virtual asset operators, failure to verify customer identities, and neglecting transaction restriction obligations. The penalty was originally scheduled to take effect on March 27.
