Some bros have asked, so I looked into it before out of curiosity. The answer is:
The rest of the world is just tagging along.
France: Mistral valued at $13.7 billion, the European version of OpenAI—but doesn’t have OpenAI’s luck
UAE: Falcon + G42 teaming up with OpenAI to build a 5 GW data center (big money stepping in)
South Korea: Naver / LG / SKT / Kakao each doing their own thing, all stuck in chaebol internal loops
Israel: AI21 has solid tech, but can’t scale
Japan & Russia: Basically out of the game
If we put it in poker terms:
China & US — Betting against each other at the table
Europe — Decent hand, but always plays half a beat too slow
Middle East — Doesn’t play, just buys a seat at the table
Korea/Israel/India — A few good cards, but not enough to make a full hand
Japan & Russia — Already folded
