[Delphi Digital: Bitcoin's Median 5-Year Holding Return Exceeds 8x, Worst Window Only -13%]
According to Delphi Digital's analysis, the 5-year holding period return for Bitcoin, even when calculated from the worst entry timing, is only -13%. Analysts backtested all possible 5-year holding periods since May 2016, revealing that Ethereum and Solana had no negative return windows, while Bitcoin had only 11 negative return windows. The worst-case scenario occurred when buying near the previous cycle peak on December 16, 2017, and selling near the cycle low in 2022, resulting in a return of approximately -13%. Bitcoin's median 5-year holding return exceeds 8x, while Ethereum's is nearly 13x. NVIDIA's approximately 14x return over the past five years is often used as a comparison to crypto assets, but it only ranks as mid-to-upper level compared to Bitcoin and Ethereum's historical 5-year returns.
