[MoonPay Invests Approximately $100 Million to Acquire Israeli Security Company Sodot, Expands Institutional Business]
According to Bloomberg, crypto payment company MoonPay has acquired Israeli crypto security startup Sodot in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately $100 million. MoonPay will use this acquisition to establish a new division, MoonPay Institutional, specifically targeting large traditional financial institutions. The division will offer services such as crypto trading, tokenized securities, payments, wallet management, and stablecoin issuance. The department will be led by Caroline D. Pham, former Acting Chair of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), who joined MoonPay last December as Chief Legal Officer and Chief Administrative Officer. Pham stated that as U.S. stablecoin regulations take shape and blockchain security improves, institutions are accelerating their entry into the crypto and DeFi sectors.
