[Visa: U.S. Tax Refunds Boost Spending]
Golden Finance reported on April 29 that Visa stated its second fiscal quarter saw overall improvement in credit card and debit card spending in the U.S., attributing this to increased tax refunds. Chief Financial Officer Chris Suh said during a conference call with analysts that Visa's payment volume in the U.S. grew by 8% in the quarter, with debit card payment volume increasing by 7% and credit card payment volume rising by 10%. Both metrics showed faster growth compared to the first fiscal quarter. Suh said, 'Discretionary and non-discretionary spending remain strong. We have not observed signs of weakened consumer spending power among low-spending consumers based on transaction data.' (Dongxinshe)
