“Funding is negative.”
“Funding is negative.”
“Funding is negative.”
Maybe if people actually studied instead of parroting one metric, they would realize how low-level this sounds.
Funding can stay deeply positive or negative for months. It’s not a signal. It conditions participants, reinforces bias, and pushes the crowd to lean harder in one direction. (Funding negative = up, funding positive = down.)
That’s how positioning gets engineered.
And the part everyone is missing? The data isn’t even complete.
“Funding” isn’t some absolute truth. It’s a derived metric, built off retail-level positioning and historical bitcoin:native models. At best, you’re seeing a fraction of the real exposure (approx 20% or less). You’re seeing the capital that doesn’t matter, while missing the largest positions from Wall Street, insiders, etc.
You really think Binance market makers, hedge funds, internal desks, dark pools, and execution algos are showing you their hand?
They’re not.
What you see is a filtered subset of open interest, easily manipulated, easily leaned on, and very easy to weaponize from a narrative perspective.
That’s where the manipulation comes in.
If the crowd sees OI rising and funding tilted, they start forming conclusions about “market positioning” as if it reflects the entire system. It doesn’t. It’s a partial view that can be used to guide expectations, and expectations are what get exploited.
You don’t need to directly manipulate price if you can manipulate perception.
There are levels to this. And trusting a metric that represents a fraction of total positioning as if it’s the full picture is exactly how you get trapped.
The only thing that isn’t as easily distorted is present price action, structure, timing, CRT, and volume at key levels. That’s where actual confirmation comes from.
So stop treating funding and order flow like they’re some kind of X-ray into “everyone’s” positioning.
They’re not.
They’re just another layer of the game, and one that’s often used against you if you don’t understand how it’s being framed.
Don’t hate the player, hate the game. I’m just here laying out the reality most people don’t want to hear about how the market actually operates.(Killa)
