🚨 QUANTUM COMPUTING HACKS BITCOIN WALLETS!! If you hold any crypto, you MUST read this before it’s too late. A few days ago, a quantum computer cracked the first BTC wallet. This shows that the “window of safety” is closing faster than we thought. Here’s why this crack is genuinely TERRIFYING: The main vulnerability of crypto is the ECDSA signature algorithm. It would take billions of years to derive your private key from a public one. Shor’s algorithm: A quantum computer uses it to “break” elliptic curves almost instantly. It used to be believed that 20–30 million qubits were required to crack it. But recent reports from Google show that with optimization, hackers need just a few days to hack the wallet. The scariest part is old addresses (P2PK). In the early days of Bitcoin, the public key was stored openly on the blockchain. Around 25–30% of all BTC (about 6.2 million coins) are in vulnerable addresses. This includes 1.1 million BTC belonging to Satoshi Nakamoto. As soon as a sufficiently powerful QC appears, these coins will become easy prey. Whoever presses the button first, becomes the new owner of “digital gold.” Even if you use a modern address where the public key is hidden, YOU ARE NOT COMPLETELY SAFE. When you make a transaction, you reveal your public key to the network. The transaction enters the mempool and waits for confirmation. A quantum computer could “see” the key in the mempool, derive the private key in minutes, and send its own transaction with a higher fee to steal your funds. THE DEATH OF MINING (Grover’s Algorithm) There’s slightly less fear here, but still: Grover’s algorithm allows brute-forcing SHA-256 hashes with quadratic speedup. This means a quantum miner would be millions of times more efficient than a traditional ASIC miner. If a single corporation or country (like the US or China) gets such a QC, they could carry out a “51% attack” and fully rewrite blockchain history.
