What’s the essence of the competition between computing power and models? From a personal perspective, it’s what Sam mentioned at the Davos Forum in early 2024—the essence of competition is the reduction of cognitive costs. Sam’s original words were: 'When cognitive costs are reduced by a thousandfold or a millionfold, and capabilities are greatly enhanced, what kind of impact will this have on the world? Imagine if everyone in the world owned a company made up of 10,000 highly capable virtual AI employees, each an expert in their field, tireless and constantly getting smarter—what would this world look like? The timing of this happening is unpredictable, but it will always follow an exponential growth curve. How much time do we have to prepare for it?'
Two years have passed, and we’re getting closer and closer to the vision Sam described back then.
