[Russian Central Bank Governor: Digital Ruble for National Fund Monitoring, Not Mandatory for Personal Use]
Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on April 25, according to Russian crypto media Bits.media, Russian Central Bank Governor Nabiullina stated at a press conference that the core purpose of the digital ruble is to automate the monitoring of national contract expenditures, replacing the current manual review process. She emphasized that the transparency of the digital ruble is no different from the existing cashless ruble, and the idea of monitoring personal payments is a 'misunderstanding.' Nabiullina also promised that the central bank will not force citizens to open digital ruble accounts or mandate its use. Starting in September, the public will be allowed to voluntarily experience it, with efforts to promote its advantages to encourage adoption. Previously, the Russian Central Bank had updated the rules for businesses and individuals to open digital ruble accounts.
