Bybit CEO Ben: DeFi is currently in a regulatory honeymoon phase During a fireside chat at the 2026 Paris Blockchain Week between BeInCrypto's Global News Head Brian McGleenon and Bybit Co-founder and CEO Ben Zhou (@benbybit), Ben Zhou pointed out that the cross-border decentralized nature of DeFi inherently conflicts with centralized regulation. Currently, the EU's MiCA framework and most regions globally have yet to establish a clear definition for DeFi, leaving room for regulatory arbitrage within the industry. He believes DeFi is currently in a regulatory honeymoon phase, with future regulations likely to prioritize the standardization of decentralized exchanges (DEX). Meanwhile, centralized exchanges (CEX) have already implemented bank-level compliance audits, highlighting a stark contrast with the no-barrier, anonymous trading model of DEX.
