Wu Blockchain has learned that MantleCore has submitted the draft proposal MIP-34, aiming to authorize Mantle Treasury to provide a loan of up to 30,000 ETH to Aave DAO. This loan is specifically intended to address the bad debt impact on Aave V3 caused by the rsETH bridge vulnerability incident on April 18, 2026. According to the draft, the loan term is up to 36 months, with an interest rate of LIDO+1% annualized or subject to final negotiation by the execution team, and early repayment without penalties is allowed.
It was disclosed that Kelp DAO's rsETH bridge was attacked on April 18, where the attacker exploited a LayerZero bridge configuration vulnerability to unauthorizedly mint 116,500 rsETH, valued at approximately $292 million. Of this, 89,567 rsETH were used as collateral on Aave V3 to borrow assets worth around $190 million. LlamaRisk's report estimates that Aave's potential bad debt ranges between $123.7 million and $230.1 million.
The draft also proposes that Aave will add collateral, including 5% of protocol revenue and Aave tokens with a fair market value of no less than $11 million. Mantle will be delegated 130,000 Aave tokens to participate in governance. The proposal is currently in the discussion phase and has not yet entered formal voting.
