[UK National Cyber Security Centre Promotes Passkeys to Replace Traditional Passwords] According to TechRadar, the UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has released its latest technical report, officially recognizing Passkeys as superior to traditional passwords and recommending them as the 'preferred login method' for various digital services. NCSC pointed out that Passkeys are based on encrypted keys stored on local devices, often combined with biometric unlocking, and their security is 'at least as strong as, and often stronger than,' the strongest passwords paired with two-factor authentication. NCSC stated that over the past year, issues related to compatibility and implementation have significantly improved. Currently, more than half of active Google users in the UK have registered for Passkeys, and platforms like eBay and PayPal have also adopted them. As a result, the agency no longer recommends using passwords when better alternatives are available.
