People who invest with a long time horizon often can catch the big moves, while traders trying to catch all the moves with high leverage and no risk management aka using their whole account to trade, often gets liquidated and have no compounding. Have a good risk management. Don't leverage trade with all you have. Use a small trading account compared to your net worth. Even if you use stop loss, you can still get liquidated or lose significantly when the volatility is extreme high. On the 10/10 liquidation day... Stop losses didn't work.
