[Trillion-Dollar Tariff Refunds Begin! Trump Urges U.S. Companies to Forgo Applications: "I Will Remember You"] Reported by Jinse Finance, on April 22, U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that he would remember those companies that choose to forgo applying for refunds on tariffs paid, following the Supreme Court's ruling that his large-scale tariffs were illegal. "If they don't do it (apply for refunds), that would be very wise. If they give up applying, I will remember them," Trump said during a program when asked whether companies like Amazon and Apple should apply for refunds on tariffs deemed illegal. In February, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Trump's imposition of so-called "reciprocal tariffs" on imports from nearly all countries under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) was unlawful. This ruling has paved the way for the largest government refund in U.S. history, though the refund process is extremely complex. In terms of scale, this tax refund is expected to involve over 53 million import declarations. Just one day before Trump's remarks, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officially launched the tariff refund system, with the total refund amount potentially exceeding $160 billion (approximately 1.09 trillion yuan). However, the entire refund process remains fraught with uncertainty. Thousands of companies have already submitted applications. Wall Street predicts that if the refunds are successfully processed, major retailers could emerge as the primary beneficiaries. (Dongxin News Agency)
