Monad Foundation Box: The moat of Agents lies in 'influence + iteration speed,' as the products themselves are highly replicable

BlockBeats News, April 21 — During the roundtable discussion on 'Decoding Web 4.0: When AI Agents Take Over On-Chain Permissions,' Box, Developer Relations Lead for Greater China at Monad Foundation, shared insights on the topic of 'Agent moats.' He stated that the current technical barriers for AI Agents are relatively low overall, and their so-called 'moat' does not primarily stem from the product itself but rather depends more on the founders' or teams' understanding of AI, operational capabilities, and external influence. He pointed out that at this stage, many Agent products essentially rely on open-source code and existing tools for rapid assembly, significantly shortening development cycles. It is not uncommon to see phenomena where 'a product can be built in just a few hours.' However, this also means that product designs are highly replicable. When cloud providers or large model vendors step in, they can often replicate or even surpass these products in a very short time, causing early-stage startups to quickly lose their competitive edge. Box further emphasized that in such an environment, the survival logic of Agent projects is undergoing a shift: on one hand, they need to maintain a leading position through high-frequency iterations; on the other hand, they must maximize market influence and user awareness to establish a first-mover advantage before the industry fully matures. He believes that if a product lacks sufficient update speed and dissemination capability, once it catches the attention of major players and is quickly followed up on, its lifecycle could be significantly shortened or even face direct elimination.
